The incident occurred at 9:35 pm; fortunately, at that time, a shift change was taking place, so there were no people inside the factory. However, the loud noise of the explosion and the flames visible from several kilometers away caused panic among the area’s residents.
Funza Mayor, Jeimmy Villamil, reported that the fire is now completely under control thanks to the quick intervention of firefighters from Funza, Mosquera, and Madrid, as well as the army.
“Thank God we had no lives to regret, no injured persons. The plant was evacuated promptly, and by now, the plant is completely safe, and the fire is completely under control,” said the mayor.
